Handwashing and Safe Water

Keeping hands clean during an emergency helps prevent the spread of germs. If current sources of water are not usable, set up your own handwashing station and use water that has been made safe. In an emergency, water contaminated with germs can often can be made safe to drink by boiling, adding disinfectants, or filtering.
